The Lord used this film to break me- Let me explain- I am recently divorced.Sept.2 08 Separated since March 17 07- Tis has been the worst thing I've ever experianced- I want to reconcile but it appears she is not receptive. I made wrong decisions over different issues and I'm still paying a price for these wrong decisions.
Currently in Divorce Care. On the day we were in court she informed me that she was praying for me. I told her I had been praying for her to.
Is there any hope?
One day recently I went into a dollar and saw a couple of ladies praying. I handed them a tract about a drama my church was going to put on. Then the topic of divorce came up and I shared my experiance.

Any way I was with someone not my wife while viewing this film. I got convicted and ended the relationship.

Matt - Thank you for your comments and honesty. Your openness shows that the movie Fireproof really hits home and that satan is doing evil in so many lives. Prior to posting this comment I prayed that our Lord would surround your home with a hedge of protection, and that He would soften both your wife's heart as well as yours to hear His will in your lives. God wants all marriages to succeed and He will give you the strength to stand for your 30 year marriage, listen to His still soft voice. I will continue to pray for you and your marriage. Blessings!

My wife RP and I will be married 30 years next June and also have grown kids. We had the opportunity to see the movie last night and mutually experienced a full range of emotions from angst to pure joy. Not unlike the sermon where you feel the pastor is reaching out and talking directly to you-------this movie hit home on too many levels. I am a firefighter, who had allowed Satan to spin his parasitic web and lead me to temptation visually. I personally felt I had lost all control in our marriage and could achieve respect everywhere but at home from my wife. I too feel I am a good person and did not deserve the treatment I was receiving the last 3 years. If you notice my last points truly emphasize the problem(I, I, I). Satan used my pride to exaggerate my personal selfishness and distance me from my true love, my wife. I simply refuse to accept the fact that we will not "grow old together however, my selfish actions have tested our marriage and our faith. As I was typing these thoughts in the early morning my wife woke up and assumed I was doing something wrong and told me,"to find an apartment and to find another life." I am beside myself and desperate to turn things around and know in my heart I must surrender all to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I will do the right thing and pray my wife understands and forgives me. I just found out that both of my children are expecting and I do not want to miss out on this blessed event. My prayer is to still be together next June and renewing our vows with family and friends. Please pray for us!

Hi Jacque - thank you for your comments and congratulations on 30 years of marriage that is fantastic.
Glad you were lucky to preview the movie and that it is as good as it sounds, I am really looking forward to the release. You said a very important key word about the success of your marriage, "intentional" you are so correct, marriage can be great but must be "intentional" with full trust in Jesus Christ.

I was able to preview the Fireproof movie because I work at a publishing house (CLC Publications) that is publishing a book by the pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church(the ones producing the movie). It is a fantastic movie and I hope you will be able to go and take some friends who need help in their relationships. Take kleenex though! It was a nice mix of sadness, laughter, drama and tenderness. It has something for everyone. The pastor is Michael Catt and his book is Fireproof Your Life, applying the principles in the movie to one's whole life. He did one for Facing the Giants too called Prepare for Rain about what God did in the church to bring it to the place where they could believe God for such a large venture. It also has stories about how God used Facing the Giants in peoples lives around the world.
May I put a plug in for longevity in marriages? PTL my hubby and I will be married 30 years next March. Our kids are grown and we are really starting to enjoy each other! We have had our rough patches-usually because we had packed our lives with too much. We had some friends sponser us for a Marriage Encounter weekend and that really helped to put us back on track. I think many couples give up before they get to that light at the end of the tunnel.
We have been intentional about our relationship-joint bank accounts, not going on business trips with someone of the opposite sex, doing things together(groceries, errands), & shopping together for big ticket items(small ones too). At 20 years we renewed our vows to assure our teenage sons that we were committed to this for the long haul. Many of their friends parents were divorcing and they were nervous.
No relationship is easy so just keep plugging away trusting Jesus-the best is yet to be!

The practice that you mentioned is very important in all our relationships. It is far easier to get along when we see the best in others.
